This section provides definitions for terms used in this chapter. It applies to persons involved in complaints filed under Texas Labor Code, Chapter 21, or Texas Property Code, Chapter 301. The definitions include terms such as ‘Agency’ referring to the unit of state government established under Texas Labor Code, Chapter 301, ‘Commission’ referring to the body of governance established under Texas Labor Code, Chapter 301, ‘Complainant’ referring to a person claiming to be aggrieved by a violation of Texas Labor Code, Chapter 21, or Texas Property Code, Chapter 301 and who files a complaint, ‘CRD’ referring to the Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division, ‘CRD director’ referring to the director or authorized designee of the Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division, ‘Fair Employment Practices Agency’ referring to a state or local government agency designated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to investigate employment discrimination complaints, ‘Fair Housing Assistance Program Agency’ referring to a state or local government agency designated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to investigate Fair Housing Act complaints, ‘Party’ referring to a person admitted to full participation in a proceeding before CRD, ‘Person’ referring to one or more individuals or various entities, and ‘Respondent’ referring to a person against whom a complaint has been filed.
