Short Summary
This section of the Ohio Revised Code governs the misuse of credit cards. It prohibits various actions such as practicing deception to obtain a credit card, buying or selling credit cards from or to unauthorized persons, and misusing a credit card account held by a political subdivision. It also prohibits obtaining control over a credit card as security for a debt, obtaining property or services using an expired or revoked card or in violation of the law, furnishing property or services upon presentation of a credit card used in violation of the law, and making false representations to the issuer of a credit card. Violations of this section can result in misdemeanor charges of the first degree, or felony charges of varying degrees depending on the cumulative retail value of the property and services involved. If the victim is an elderly person or disabled adult, additional penalties apply. Restitution to the victim and fines may also be imposed.
